CEI exam practice questions
Where to find real-format CEI practice questions
Practice questions are only worth sitting if they match the real paper. The CEI (KAH) test is 80 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, and 56% of the marks sit in EARF and EFMA alone. A full sample question is published below with no account needed. CEI Grill also runs a free 15-question grill, and a 280-question bank with a timed two-hour mock behind the paid course.
For the syllabus itself, read the CEI (KAH) exam syllabus and paper format. For the registration rules and the fee, read the CEI exam format, fee and pass mark.
What “real format” means
MOM publishes the shape of the CEI (KAH) paper: 80 questions in three sections, over two hours. Any practice set that ignores this weighting is training you for a paper you are not sitting.
| Section | Questions | Share of paper | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Section A | 45 MCQs | 56% | EARF and EFMA |
| Section B | 30 MCQs | 38% | the remaining nine syllabus topics |
| Section C | 5 case-study MCQs | 6% | applied scenarios |

A real practice question, with the trap explained
No account, no email. This is one question from the bank, shown the way every question is shown after you answer it.
A Part IV employee works overtime. What is the minimum overtime pay rate, the maximum overtime hours per month (without exemption), and the deadline to pay overtime?
- A.1.5× hourly basic rate; max 72 hours/month; pay within 14 days after the salary period.✓ correct
- B.2× hourly basic rate; max 60 hours/month; pay within 7 days after the salary period.
- C.1.5× hourly basic rate; max 44 hours/month; pay within 7 days after the salary period.
- D.1.5× hourly basic rate; no monthly cap; pay within 30 days.
Why this trips you up
Overtime is paid at least 1.5× the hourly basic rate, capped at 72 hours a month (an exemption is needed for more), and paid within 14 days of the salary period. The 44 in option C is the normal weekly-hours figure, not an overtime cap. Both numbers are real and both live in the same Act, which is exactly why the wrong option looks right. B inflates the rate; D removes the cap.

What is free and what is not
Stated plainly, because a practice-question page that hides its paywall wastes your time. Free, with no payment details: the 15-question grill, and four full syllabus topics of notes covering EARF, EFMA, MDW rules and the Employment Act. Paid: the full 280-question bank, the timed two-hour mock in the real 80-question shape, and the cheat sheet.
How many practice questions are enough
Coverage beats volume. A bank spread evenly across the syllabus mis-trains you, because the paper is not spread evenly: EARF and EFMA carry 45 of the 80 marks between them. The useful test is not how many questions you have answered but whether you can separate two near-identical figures under a clock, which is the skill the paper actually examines.
Are free question banks accurate?
Often they are not, and a practice question built on a superseded figure teaches you the wrong number with confidence. There is one check worth applying to any CEI question set, including this one: does each answer cite the Act or the MOM page the figure came from? If it does not, you cannot verify it, and an unverifiable practice question is worse than no practice question.
Common questions
- Where can I find CEI exam mock tests online?
- A mock test is only useful if it matches the real paper: 80 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, split 45 on EARF and EFMA, 30 across the remaining topics and 5 case studies. CEI Grill runs a timed two-hour mock in that exact shape, plus a 280-question bank. A free 15-question grill is available without a card.
- Are there free CEI practice questions?
- Yes. The free 15-question grill needs an account but no payment details, and the four free syllabus topics on this site carry worked examples. A full sample question, with the reasoning for every wrong option, is published on this page with no account at all.
- How many CEI practice questions are enough before sitting the exam?
- Coverage matters more than volume. The paper draws 56% of its marks from EARF and EFMA, so questions concentrated there are worth more than an evenly spread bank. What matters is whether you can tell two near-identical figures apart under time pressure, which is what a trap-style question tests.
- Are free CEI question banks accurate and current?
- Often not. Employment agency rules change, and a question written against a superseded figure teaches the wrong number. The check that matters is whether each answer cites the Act or the MOM page it came from, so you can verify it yourself rather than trusting the site.
- What does a CEI trap question look like?
- It swaps one neighbouring figure. The sample on this page offers 44 hours where the answer is 72: 44 is the normal weekly-hours figure under the Employment Act, not the monthly overtime cap. Both numbers are real and both appear in the same Act, which is what makes the wrong option look right.
