Is the CEI KAH course worth it?
I didn't buy the CEI course. I still passed on my first attempt.
While I was looking into what other candidates actually go through, I found a real account on r/singaporehappenings — six weeks, two exam attempts, close to S$898 in course and exam fees combined. My own path looked nothing like that.
I registered for the CEI (KAH) exam on 29 June 2026 and, if I'm honest, panicked almost immediately.
I had to go through every course PDF myself, and it was a genuine headache — page after page, some so dense there was no way to tell what actually mattered for the exam and what didn't. I couldn't even figure out where to start. Every hour I spent working that out was an hour I wasn't actually studying, and the exam date wasn't moving.
I could have just ground through it page by page and hoped I picked up the right things — but that's genuinely not how I study, and honestly, I was too lazy to spend weeks sorting it all out myself. So instead, I built a system to make it manageable: course notes reorganised around what the exam actually weights, not the order a textbook happens to present them in. Section A — EARF and EFMA — is 56% of the paper, so that's where I started.
I'll be honest: I never purchased the CEI course. I spent four days on my own reorganised notes. The fifth day I spent on practice questions and one full mock exam. I sat the real exam on 13 July 2026.
60 out of 80. First attempt. Around 14 hours of actual study, spread across five days.
Set that next to the Reddit account I mentioned above: six weeks, two exam attempts, roughly S$898 in course fees, exam fees and leave days combined. I spent five days, about S$88 on the tools I built for myself, and one MOM exam fee — and passed the first time.
A few people have asked how I did it since I told them I passed on my first attempt. This is that answer, written down properly. What I built along the way became CEI Grill — if you want to try the same approach, the free 15-question grill is a good place to start.
